The Lugnet ski jumps are two ski jumping hills in the Lugnet sports and leisure area in the Swedish city of Falun .
history
The first Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1954 did not take place on the Lugnet, but on the Källviksbacken . The Holmens IF association built two jumps for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 . For the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1993 , the jumps were renovated and equipped with ceramic tracks. From the 1979/80 season to 2001/2002 the World Cup took place several times with interruption . The Nordic Tournament stopped in Falun five times .
After that, the Lugnet hills were not used for World Cups for a long time. Up until 2010 there were still some summer competitions in the second-class Continental Cup and the third-class FIS Cup on the normal hill . The large hill was out of date and was shut down. The Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 were awarded to Falun in 2010. For the world championships, the normal and large hill should be modernized by 2012, but the earthworks did not start until summer 2012 to adapt the new landing hill profiles and steel grids had to be filled with stone material. The steel inrun towers built in the run-up to the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 will be retained. The hill profiles of the old normal hill K 90 and large hill K 115 are completely changed, the new K 90 (hill size 100) and K 120 (hill size 134) are created. New ice-ceramic tracks from the Slovenian manufacturer MANA will be installed during the ramp-up. The jump tower and the panels of the inrun towers are made of glass. A new lookout point will be created on the new K 120 large hill. In addition, a new technical room was built on the K 120, the hill was covered with plastic matting for the first time, a new coach tower was built, the old judges tower was completely redesigned and a new cable car was built. In addition, four new junior hills K 10, K 15, K 35, K 60 were originally planned for 1.7 million euros. The construction is now questionable. The junior hills are urgently needed so that after the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 ski jumping can continue in Falun.
The first jumps on the normal hill took place in January 2014. On February 7th and 8th, 2014, the normal hill will be officially inaugurated after four years after it was closed during the Swedish championships. In February and March 2014, numerous test competitions for the 2015 World Championships will be held on the two hills . The jumps should also be used more often for competitions afterwards.
At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2015 , Severin Freund landed in the men's team competition on February 28 at a distance of 143 m. This is the largest distance ever jumped on the hill, but it is not considered a hill record, because Freund could not stand the jump due to the high landing pressure and put his hand into the snow. The distance of 135.5 m, also jumped by Freund in the individual competition, is still the hill record.
