Wendy Vuik (born November 25, 1988 in Rotterdam ) is a former Dutch ski jumper .

Career

Vuik from Rotterdam achieved 53rd place in her first jumping at an FIS competition in August 2004 in Meinerzhagen . It took until February 2007 when the Dutch rider came back to Baiersbronn , now in the next racing series, the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2006/07 , and was 41st in jumping on the normal hill. A month later she started at the Junior World Championships in Tarvisio and finished 29th there. In December 2007 , she won Continental Cup points for the first time in Notodden as 21st . In January 2008 Vuik in Dobbiaco jumped 17th for the first time under the top 20. At the Junior World Championships of the year she was 24th. The Dutch woman achieved her best result with a 12th place so far in September 2008 in a mat jumping competition in Oberstdorf . At her first Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , Vuik reached the finals and was 23rd at the end.

After Vuik had kept their performances consistently high after the World Cup until the end of the season, they could no longer build on the previous season at the beginning of the 2009/10 season. Placements in the top 20 were rare. It wasn't until December 2010 that Vuik found its way back to its old strength. In January 2011 she started at the 2011 Winter Universiade in Turkey's Erzurum . From the normal hill she achieved a sixth place there. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo , which took place a month later , she came back to 23rd place in jumping from the normal hill, as in 2009.

On March 16, 2014, at the age of 25, Vuik announced her retirement from active ski jumping.
