Torbjørn Løkken (born June 28, 1963 in Biri ) is a former Norwegian Nordic combined skier .
Career
Løkken, who started for Biri IL , made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup on December 15, 1984 in Planica . With eighth place, he immediately landed in the top ten. A few days later, in fourth place in St. Moritz, he narrowly missed his first podium. He also landed on this square in January in Leningrad . His first season 1984/85 he finished eighth in the overall World Cup standings.
At the Norwegian Championships in Tromsø in 1985 , he won the bronze medal in singles behind Geir Andersen and Hallstein Bøgseth . In the 1985/86 season Løkken started weak with 15th place in Tarvisio . In the two other competitions he competed, he did not make it into the top ten and ended the season in 27th place overall after only three World Cups.
Løkken had the most successful season in his sporting career with the 1986/87 season . On December 13, 1986, he started the season in Canmore with his first World Cup victory. In Reit im Winkl he finished second again in January before celebrating his second victory in Autrans just a few days later . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , he won the gold medal in the individual on the normal hill and the silver medal with the team. After the world championship, he achieved his third World Cup victory in Falun . Also at the Norwegian championship in 1987 in Kongsberg was successful for the first time and won his first and only title in individual before Arne Orderløkken and Hallstein Bøgseth. He finished the World Cup season as overall leader. He was then honored with the Aftenposten gold medal in his home country in the same year . He also received the official congratulations from Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland .
In the 1987-88 season started Løkken with second place in Bad Goisern before he celebrated his fourth World Cup victory in January in St. Moritz. At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , he finished sixth in the individual, a few days after he narrowly missed a medal with Trond Arne Bredesen and Hallstein Bøgseth in fourth in the team competition. Even before the games, he won the combination competition on Holmenkollen .
At the Norwegian Championships in Skien in 1988 , he won silver both individually and with the team. On March 18, 1988, he won his fifth and final World Cup in Oslo . After taking a break from the World Cup for almost two years, he started again in St. Moritz in December 1989 and in ninth place won another seven World Cup points.
After the end of his active career, Løkken started having problems with alcohol and other drugs . In a 2007 interview with the Dagbladet , he revealed that he had been an addict for 15 years. In addition to alcohol addiction , he took pills and heroin .
