Olaf Hoffsbakken (born September 2, 1908 in Snertingdal , † November 23, 1986 in Gjøvik ) was a Norwegian Nordic skier .

Life

Hoffsbakken, who started for Snertingdal IL, reached sixth place in the individual Nordic Combined at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1934 in Sollefteå . A year later at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1935 in Vysoké Tatry , he was able to improve to fourth place and so narrowly missed the medal ranks. In cross-country skiing , however, he was able to win the silver medal with the relay. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he was able to win the silver medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1936 both in the Nordic Combined and in the 4x10-kilometer cross-country relay. At the Norwegian Championships in 1937 he won the title in Nordic Combined and over 18 km of cross-country skiing. In the same year he received the Holmenkollen Medal together with Birger Ruud and Martin P. Vangsli .

At the World Championships in Lahti in 1938 , he won the Nordic combined title .
