Biri (Norway)
Biri is a place in Norway with around 1400 inhabitants (as of 2009). It is located about 20 kilometers south of Lillehammer on the banks of the Mjøsa and belongs to the municipality of Gjøvik in Innlandet . Biri used to be an independent community itself.
The church in Biri is a cross-shaped wooden building from 1777 and has 450 seats. In 2007 the church was extensively renovated. The church burned several times in previous years.
Local companies include a glassworks and Madshus, the oldest ski manufacturer in the world. In the east of Biri there is a horse racing track right on the lake. Biri Tapet has been making natural straw wallpapers in a variety of designs for high living standards for generations.
