Thomas Dufter (born December 20, 1966 in Inzell ) is a former German Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Dufter, who started for SC Hammer , won his first national title in the Nordic Combined at the German championships in 1989, ahead of Hubert Schwarz and Thomas Müller . He also won gold with the team. On January 21, 1989 Dufter made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup . In Breitenwang , he immediately scored points with 13th place. At the end of the season in Lake Placid , he achieved his first top 10 place.

At the German Championships in 1990 he won silver in the individual and gold in the team. In the 1990/91 season he started in the B World Cup and won the individual competition in Planica . In January 1991 he then switched back to the World Cup and again achieved a placement among the top ten in Schonach in the Black Forest . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , Dufter started with the team and narrowly missed a medal with the team in fourth.

In 1991 Dufter again won silver in the individual and gold with the team at the German championships. A year later he was on the squad for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . He landed together with Hans-Peter Pohl and Jens Deimel in the team competition on the fifth place before he reached 12th place in the individual. After the games, Dufter achieved three top 10 placements in Lahti , Trondheim and Oslo. With that he finished his most successful season in 12th place overall.

He achieved his best individual result in the following season 1992/93 . In Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer , he finished second in the individual and thus achieved a podium finish in the World Cup for the first and only time in his career. At the team competition of the Nordic World Ski Championships 1993 in Falun , he won silver together with Deimel and Pohl.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in 1994 , at the age of 27, he started again individually and in a team, but he did not get past places 23 and 10. In the following year Dufter managed to win the individual again at the German Championships. He also won bronze with the team. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay , he finished sixth with the team. He did not compete in the individual. In March 1995 he played his last World Cup in Sapporo . He achieved his last success at the German Championships in 1996, where he again won bronze in the team.

Fragrance's son, who is also called Thomas, is now a ski jumper.
