Hans Mikael Martinsson (born November 25, 1968 in Hakkas , Gällivare municipality ) is a former Swedish ski jumper .

Career

On March 27, 1988 Martinsson made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup when jumping from the large hill in Planica . He was able to jump into the top ten in his first competition with 7th place and thus also won his first World Cup points.

The following Four Hills Tournament in 1988/89 was unsuccessful for Martinsson. It was not until his first jump after the tour in Oberhof that he jumped into the points again with 15th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1998 , Martinsson jumped from the normal hill to 25th and from the large hill to 60th place. In team jumping he reached 5th place together with Thomas Nordgren , Staffan Tällberg and Jan Boklöv .

In the following season there were no points. It was not until the Four Hills Tournament in 1990/91 that he was able to jump back into the points and finished the tour in 7th place in the overall standings. At the end of the season he was able to further improve his performance. So he was able to win his first and only World Cup on March 10, 1991 in Falun . Three days later he was on the podium again in Trondheim . After further placements, he finished the 1990/91 World Cup season in 5th place in the overall World Cup ranking. Shortly after the season he won the gold medal on the normal hill at the Swedish Championships.

The 1991/92 season also started successfully for Martinsson. So he was able to achieve several podium places and regular point wins before the Olympic Winter Games.

At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , Martinsson was part of the Swedish squad. He reached 17th place in jumping on the normal hill and 16th on the large hill. In team jumping he reached 9th place together with Magnus Westman , Jan Boklöv and Staffan Tällberg . Shortly after the games he was able to win the gold medal on the normal hill again at the Swedish Championships. At the ski flying world championship in Harrachov in 1992 , Martinsson flew to 8th place.

In the following years he could only rarely repeat his achievements. In the 1992/93 and 1993/94 seasons he was able to win World Cup points several times. He was also in the Swedish squad again at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , jumping from the normal hill to 23rd and from the large hill to 34th place. He was tenth in the team competition. In the Swedish championships that took place a few weeks later, Martinsson won the gold medal on the normal and large hill.

After these championships in the World Cup were no longer successful and he also failed to achieve any top positions in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup , in which he started at the same time, he ended his active ski jumping career in 1995. Before that he was able to win the Swedish championship title again on the normal hill.
