Career

Francesco made his international debut at the World Cup competition in Planica on March 29, 1992. Already in his second World Cup competition at the beginning of the 1992/93 season he was in the Swedish Falun first jump onto the podium and reached the 2nd place. It remained the highest single placement in his career. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1993 , he reached 46th place on the large hill and 47th place on the normal hill. At the World Cup team competition on March 27, 1993, he and the team together with Robert Meglič , Matjaž Zupan and Samo Gostiša came in third. Two years followed in which he could rarely jump into the top 20. It was not until February 19, 1995 that he was able to achieve a top 10 position in ski flying in Vikersund with a 7th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay , Canada , he reached 43rd place on the normal hill and 27th place on the large hill. At the ski flying world championship in Tauplitz / Bad Mitterndorf in 1996, in addition to a bronze medal, he also took 4th place twice. Two years followed in which he rarely achieved a placement outside the top 30. At the ski flying world championship in 1998 in Oberstdorf he reached the 24th place on January 25, 1998. Franc was the Slovenian squad for the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Nagano added, reaching there on the normal hill the 42nd place. After further mediocre results, Franc ended his career after the World Cup competition in Planica on March 21, 1999. In his last competition he was able to win World Cup points again and in the end came in 27th.
