Anže Damjan (born September 11, 1987 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian ski jumper . His greatest success is the win with the Slovenian team at the Winter Universiade 2005 in Seefeld in Tyrol .
Career
Damjan started in 2003 in the Alpine Cup and in the FIS junior competitions. In December 2004 he started the traditional Christmas jumping competition in St. Moritz in the Continental Cup (COC) for the first time . One day later he was able to collect points in the COC for the first time in Engelberg with 28th place. After further COC starts, he took part in the Universiade in Seefeld in Tirol in January 2005 and came in 14th. With the Slovenian team, however, he won the team jumping from the Toni Seelos Olympic hill . After further Continental and Alpine Cup appearances, he started in March at the Junior World Championships 2005 in Rovaniemi and finished 13th in the individual competition. After he did not convince in the COC in summer 2005, but was able to occupy two podium places in the FIS Cup , he started regularly in the Continental Cup in winter 2005/06. There he mostly achieved points and was able to make it into the top ten a few times. In January 2006 he was part of the Slovenian team for the World Cup jumping in Sapporo . He was able to qualify for jumping on January 21 and was able to debut in the World Cup. The following day he missed qualification.
After taking part in only two Continental Cups in summer 2006, he was only able to achieve mediocre placements in the COC in winter 2006/07. In the Continental Cup 2007/08, he presented himself in a similar condition. It was not until the summer of 2008 that he was able to regularly place in the points again. At the beginning of the winter of 2008/09 he was mostly fighting for a place in the second round, but was able to improve over time. On February 15, 2009, he finally finished third in Iron Mountain , after he was sixth the day before. This third place remained his only podium finish in the Continental Cup. Until the end of the season he consistently achieved points. At the end of the season he was used in the World Cup over the national group for ski flying in Planica . Here he was able to take part in the competition as 27th in the qualification and celebrated his first World Cup points with 21st place. After the 2009/10 season he ended his career and was bid farewell at the Summer Continental Cup show jumping on July 2, 2010 in Kranj , Slovenia , where he started one last time and finished 32nd.
Damjan is the younger brother of ski jumper Jernej Damjan .
