Blaž Vrhovnik (born May 8, 1981 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian ski jumper .

Career

Vrhovnik completed his first international jumping on January 4, 1997 in Innsbruck as part of the Four Hills Tournament 1996/97 . Already in his first World Cup competition he was able to win the first World Cup points by finishing 21st on the large hill. At the Junior World Championships in 1997 in Canmore , Canada , he won the gold medal in team jumping together with Grega Lang , Peter Žonta and Miha Rihtar . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 1997 in Trondheim , which took place two weeks later , he was 24th on the large hill and sixth with the team.

At the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Nagano he could reach the 17th place on the normal hill and 38th on the large hill. In the team competition he reached 10th place together with Miha Rihtar , Peter Žonta and Primož Peterka . On 11 March 1998 he achieved 12th place in the Swedish Falun the highest individual placing in the World Cup. At the ski flying world championship in Vikersund in 2000 , he came in 38th place. At the beginning of the 2001/02 season Vrhovnik jumped in the Continental Cup , but was taken back to the World Cup squad after four jumps with good performances. However, he could not achieve any more success in the World Cup and therefore started in the Continental Cup from February 2002. After he could not achieve any notable success there either, he ended his active jumping career in March 2003.
