Pascal Bodmer (born January 4, 1991 in Balingen ) is a German ski jumper from Hossingen , a district of Meßstetten in the Zollernalb district in Baden-Württemberg .

Career

Pascal Bodmer was born on January 4, 1991 as the child of the car mechanic Werner Bodmer and his wife Alice in Balingen. At the age of five he accompanied his brother Patrick to alpine skiing and shortly afterwards to ski jumping at the Messstetten ski club. Meßstetten bears the title of "highest town in Baden-Württemberg". The Heuberg has three natural hills ; including two small jumps with a construction point of 20 and 40, as well as a middle hill with K 60. Bodmer started ski jumping at the age of five. In 2002, the then eleven-year-old was the second best jumper of the German Ski Association (DSV) and best of ARGE Baden-Württemberg (Swabian youth champion 2002). In the years to come, the young jumper always improved himself in the school competitions and was one of the best youngsters at the DSV. From summer 2005 he was a member of the C-team of the German Ski Association. Since September 2006, the beginning of the 2006/2007 school year, he has been attending the Furtwangen Ski Boarding School (SKIF) in Furtwangen in the Black Forest . There he attended the 10th class of secondary school and trained in the C-squad together with his brother Patrick (then D-squad) and other ski jumping talents.

In 2005 Pascal Bodmer and the OPA team became German Schoolchildren. At the OPA games in 2006 he finished fifth and in July 2006 22nd place in the Continental Cup . He won the German Cup , and came third in the Alpine Cup . At the German Championships in 2006, he finished sixth. At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio , Italy , he reached 18th place in individual jumping and 4th place with the team. In February 2007 Bodmer finished 29th in the world cup competition in Klingenthal and received his first two world cup points. From the 2007/2008 season he was part of the B-team. At the Junior World Championships 2008 in Zakopane , Poland , he reached 11th place in individual jumping and won the gold medal with the team. On July 19, 2008 Bodmer became German ski jumping champion (men and juniors) in the Vogtland Arena in Klingenthal. At the Four Hills Tournament 2008/09 he was only able to convince in the qualification for the New Year's show in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. A year later he again won first place in the German championship with the "Baden-Württemberg" team.

At the Junior World Championships in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso , Slovakia , he reached 4th place in individual jumping and won the silver medal with the team. In summer 2009, Bodmer graduated from the Furtwangen boarding school with vocational college 2 (economics). He is now a sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Todtnau -Fahl, lives in Stegen in the upper Dreisamtal with Kevin Horlacher and trains in the Black Forest first with the former Austrian jumper Stefan Horngacher , then together with Martin Schmitt at the Olympic base in Hinterzarten with coach Rolf Schilli . His current rank is Corporal .

At the start of the 2009/10 Olympic season, Bodmer achieved his best ever World Cup result on November 28, 2009. First he helped the team to second place and in the first individual competition of the season he surprisingly reached second place. At the Four Hills Tournament 2009/10 he came seventh in the victory of Austrian Andreas Kofler . At the Junior World Championships 2010 in Hinterzarten , Germany , he reached 20th place in individual jumping and won the silver medal with the team. On February 7, 2010, he won the team competition on the Mühlenkopfschanze in Willingen as part of the FIS Team Tour 2010 with the German team, which also included Michael Neumayer , Martin Schmitt and Michael Uhrmann . At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Bodmer retired in jumping on the normal hill, tied with Stefan Hula as 31st after the first round.

At the Four Hills Tournament 2010/11 he achieved 25th place in the overall ranking. On December 29, 2011 he did not succeed in qualifying for the 60th Four Hills Tournament 2011/12 on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf  .

His personal best is 189.5 m, jumped on February 4, 2011 on the Heini-Klopfer ski jumping hill in Oberstdorf .
