The Skiclub Degenfeld is a sports club from Degenfeld , a district of Schwäbisch Gmünd .

history

The club was founded on January 21, 1922 as the Degenfeld Ski Club in the Hirsch Gasthaus in Degenfeld. The founding members were skiers of the Stuttgart Ski Club Steinbühl. From the beginning of its existence, youth work was of great importance. In 1924, 15 of the 34 members of the association were young people.

In 1926 the club built its first ski jumping hill , on which the first Swabian championships were held in 1927. In 1929 the association carried out its Degenfeld Children's Ski Festival, which is still held today, in which competitions in cross-country skiing , ski jumping and downhill skiing were held.

During the Second World War , the club's operations ceased and the club's facilities were badly damaged. Shortly after the end of the war, the sports facilities were restored so that a Swabian championship could be held again in 1947.

In the 1950s, the SC Degenfeld organized various large ski jumping events on its large hill at the Winterhalde, some of which attracted several thousand spectators.

In 1956, the German champion Stefanie Köhrer-Wamsler qualified as the first female athlete in the sword field for the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo .

In the 1960s, the association built a chairlift on the Steinbühl in addition to a ski lift on the Große Mulde. Between 1974 and 1976 a ski hut was built on Kalten Feld. In 1990 new junior hills were built. Subsequently, Degenfeld became a base for ski jumping in the Swabian Ski Association.

Since the 2000s, the SC Degenfeld has also offered popular and recreational sports such as gymnastics and Nordic walking .
