Rieko Kanai ( Japanese 金井 理 恵 子 , Kanai Rieko ; born November 4, 1981 in Ueda , Nagano Prefecture ) is a former Japanese ski jumper .

Kanai started ski jumping at the age of eight. In 2002 she was accepted into the national team and jumped on February 19, 2003 with the FIS jumping in Breitenberg her first international competition. On February 8, 2005, she made her debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup and was able to achieve good results from the start. So she was able to jump into the top ten with sixth place in the fourth competition in Saalfelden . The 2004/05 season ended Kanai in 20th place in the overall standings. After another four rather mediocre seasons, she achieved this position in the overall standings again in the 2009/10 season . After that season, she retired at the age of 28.
