The Mikaho Sports Hall ( 札幌 市 美 香 保 体育館 , Sapporo-shi Mikaho Taiikukan ) is an ice rink in the Japanese city ​​of Sapporo . It is located in Mikaho Park in the Higashi-ku district and was built with a view to the 1972 Winter Olympics .

The two-story building, designed by the architects Kume Sekkei , is owned by the city of Sapporo. It was built between May 1969 and October 1970, and the construction cost was 685 million yen . During the Winter Games, the Mikaho sports hall served as the venue for the compulsory program of figure skating competitions . The audience capacity at that time was 1998 people, 700 of them in temporary stands on the non-glazed north side.

The hall has a floor area of ​​6268 m², the ice rink measures 60 × 30 m. The sloping roof is supported by large-diameter steel tubing trusses that are exposed inside. Since the 1972 Winter Games, the hall has served as a public ice rink with mixed use (figure skating, curling , ice hockey ), for example at the Winter Asian Games in 1986, 1990 and 2017 and at the Winter Universiade in 1991. Until 1998, the building was in converted into a heated indoor pool during the summer months . Since then it has been used in summer for various sports such as B. badminton , basketball , volleyball , tennis and table tennis . There are three baseball fields and four tennis courts outside the building .
