Misaki Shigeno ( Japanese 茂 野 美 咲 , Shigeno Misaki , born November 5, 1986 in Minami-Uonuma ) is a Japanese ski jumper .

Career

Misaki Shigeno began in elementary school with ski jumping and went to study at Hokusho University after finishing school because of the better training opportunities in Hokkaidō .

She made her international debut in 2002 at the FIS Ladies Grand Prix in Austria / Germany , where she came in 24th overall. At the 2004 Junior Championship in Norway , she reached 12th place. Since the beginning of 2012 she has been part of Rise JC , Japan's first women's ski jumping team.

In March 2006, she took part in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Zaō . With ranks 18 and 16, she immediately won 28 points and thus reached rank 37 in the overall Continental Cup ranking. At the FIS jumping in Sapporo she won a short time later and was able to secure a starting place in the Continental Cup for the future. In the summer of 2007 she also reached the points clearly in Park City and Calgary.

At the 2007 Winter Universiade in Pragelato , Italy , Shigeno won the silver medal in individual jumping. Two months later in March 2007 she started again in the Continental Cup in Zaō and Sapporo and won points again as in the previous year. In the end she reached rank 37 in the overall ranking with 82 points. In the following season her use was limited to the jumping in Japan, where she again won a total of 16 Continental Cups.

At the Winter Universiade 2009 in Yabuli , China , she won her first international title and thus gold in the individual jumping after winning the silver medal two years earlier. Despite this success, she only competed in jumping in her native Japan until September 2012. However, she was able to win points in almost all jumping competitions and was also placed in the overall standings up to the 2010/11 season. In September 2012 she started in Europe for the first time and also won points in the mat jumping in Lillehammer, Norway, as 27th and 30th. Then she got a starting place for the A-squad in the ski jumping World Cup for the first time .

On February 2, 2013 Shigeno made her debut in the World Cup in Sapporo and was able to win 19th and 20th World Cup points in both competitions. In Yamagata and Ljubno , too, she clearly succeeded. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme , she started exclusively in the individual from the normal hill and finished in 22nd place. At the FIS competitions in Sapporo that followed the World Championships , she jumped twice on the podium in second and third, before taking a 46 Place at the World Cup in Trondheim and 26th place in Oslo ended the season in 29th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

In the following years, she was unable to repeat these results in the World Cup and returned to the Continental Cup in 2019. On August 9, she was able to jump on the podium for the first time with a second place in Szczyrk .
