Malcolm Patrick McMahon OP (born June 14, 1949 in London , United Kingdom ) is Archbishop of Liverpool .

Life

Malcolm McMahon attended Dominic's Primary School and then St. Aloysius College . He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology . McMahon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He then worked as an engineer for the Daimler Motor Company in Coventry and later for London Transport .

In 1976 Malcolm McMahon entered the Dominican Order . During his novitiate he studied philosophy at Oxford . In December 1977, McMahon made his perpetual profession . Then he studied Catholic theology at Heythrop College of the University of London and received his Master of Theology . On June 26, 1982 he received the sacrament of ordination through the Archbishop of Westminster , Basil Cardinal Hume OSB . From 1984 to 1985, Malcolm McMahon was a chaplain at Leicester Polytechnic . From 1985 to 1989 he was a curator in London. In 1989 McMahon became pastor of St. Dominic's Parish in Newcastle upon Tyne and St. Dominic's Parish in Haverstock Hill . In 1992 Malcolm McMahon was elected Provincial of the English Dominican Province . McMahon became prior of the "Blackfriars" (Dominicans) in Oxford in 2000 .

On November 7, 2000, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Nottingham . He received his episcopal ordination on December 8, 2000 Bishop James Joseph McGuinness in the Cathedral of St. Barnabas; Co-consecrators were the two auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Westminster, Victor Guazzelli and Patrick O'Donoghue .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Liverpool on March 21, 2014 . The inauguration took place on May 1st of the same year.

Malcolm McMahon is Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
