James Joseph McGuinness

James Joseph McGuinness (born October 2, 1925 in Derry City , Northern Ireland , † April 6, 2007 ) was Bishop of Nottingham .

Life

James Joseph McGuinness was ordained a priest in Nottingham on June 3, 1950 .

On February 2, 1972 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Nottingham and Titular Bishop of Sanctus Germanus . He was ordained episcopal by the Bishop of Nottingham, Edward Ellis , on March 23 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Plymouth , Cyril Edward Restieaux , and the Bishop of Shrewsbury , William Eric Grasar .

With the age-related resignation of Edward Ellis on October 31, 1974, he succeeded him as Bishop of Nottingham. On November 7, 2000, his resignation was granted by John Paul II .
