Veronica Gianmoena (born October 25, 1995 in Cavalese ) is an Italian Nordic combined skier who used to be a ski jumper .

Career

Gianmoena, who started ski jumping at an early age, won the silver medal at the Italian Children's World Championships in 2007 before winning gold in 2009. On August 8, 2009, at the age of just 13, she made her debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . In Bischofsgrün she clearly missed her first Continental Cup points as 61st. Also in her first winter jumping for the 2009/10 season she could not jump to the top positions.

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2010 in Hinterzarten , Gianmoena reached 39th place in the individual on the normal hill. After several unsuccessful starts in the Continental Cup, she was also only able to achieve 42nd place at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2011 . Two weeks later she won her first Continental Cup point with 30th place in Zakopane , which earned her 87th place overall with Avery Ardovino , Daniela Haralambie , Yuka Kobayashi and Nina Lussi .

At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck , Gianmoena finished 12th in the individual and 10th with the team in the team competition. Four weeks later at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Erzurum , she jumped 42nd again, like a year earlier.

After two competitions in Villach as part of the FIS Cup in July 2012, in which she was able to jump into the points, she started in the Alpine Cup and achieved a place in the top ten for the first time in Einsiedeln in September . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2013 she was able to improve significantly for the first time in two years and at the end of the day she was 26th in the individual on the normal hill.

On February 16, 2013 Gianmoena made her debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup . In Ljubno she reached places 40 and 39 and thus remained pointless. For the 2013/14 season, however, she was again only nominated for the C-squad and therefore has no permanent starting place in the World Cup or Continental Cup. At the Junior World Championships in 2014 in Predazzo , Italy , she finished 29th. The following year she was 24th at her last Junior World Championships , which this time took place in Almaty , Kazakhstan , and thus achieved her best placement at a Junior World Championship. On February 19, 2016 in Lahti, Finland , she achieved her best position so far in the World Cup with 35th place, but also missed the points in this competition.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld , Austria , Gianmoena competed in the special jumpers. In the team competition, which was held for the first time, she took eighth place together with Elena Runggaldier , Giada Tomaselli and Lara Malsiner .
