Career

Lamy Chappuis, who started for SC Bois d'Amont , made his international debut at the age of 13 in January 2007 at the FIS junior competitions in Courchevel . After two lower placings, he started in the FIS Cup for the first time in Chaux-Neuve in February and was able to win his first point in the first competition with 30th place. In January 2008 Lamy Chappuis competed in FIS jumping competitions in Kranj, Slovenia, and Pragelato , Italy , before making his debut in the Alpine Cup in October . In the first competitions of this competition, however, he did not manage to get into the points or even to the top positions. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso he reached 49th place. After the Junior World Championships, Lamy Chappuis started again in junior competitions and achieved varying results. At the end of March, he and the team won the bronze medal in the team competition of the French Ski Jumping Championships 2009 in Chaux-Neuve after he was already tenth in the individual competition. In August 2009 he successfully started two competitions in Predazzo in the FIS Cup before starting again in the Alpine Cup in September.

After having consistently achieved good to very good placements in the Alpine Cup, he made his debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup on December 27, 2009 . However, he did not reach the second round in both Engelberg competitions . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2010 in Hinterzarten , Lamy Chappuis jumped from the normal hill to 28th place in the individual and reached twelfth place with the team in team jumping. He then remained unsuccessful in the Continental Cup until the end of February, before moving back to the Alpine and FIS Cups. In July 2010, he won Continental Cup points for the first time on his Continental Cup comeback in Courchevel . He was unable to qualify for the ski jumping Grand Prix qualification, which took place on the same hill two weeks later . He was also unsuccessful in other isolated starts in the Continental Cup.

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2011 in Otepää , Estonia , Lamy Chappuis was able to further improve his performance compared to the previous year and achieved 19th place in the individual competition and ninth place with the team. A week later he was able to jump into the points in both competitions in Brotterode in the Continental Cup . Despite this success, Lamy Chappuis remained primarily in the squad for the Alpine Cup and only occasionally started in the Continental Cup. There were no successes or point placements. In the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Turkey's Erzurum he landed in the individual competition at the 21th Place and with the team in the team competition in ninth.

After starting again unsuccessfully in the Continental Cup show jumping in Stams in summer 2012 , he achieved his first podium finish in the Alpencup in Einsiedeln . Then he switched back to the Continental Cup in September and was able to surprise the competition in Klingenthal in the first competition with ninth place and in the second competition with sixth place. After winning the following two Alpine Cup competitions in Oberstdorf , he made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup on November 23, 2012 as part of the mixed team competition in Lillehammer . Together with Julia Clair , Coline Mattel and Emmanuel Chedal , he finished ninth in the end. He clearly missed the qualification for the individual jumping as 47th. Also in Kuusamo he missed the qualification and was only able to start in the team competition, where he finished tenth with the team.

In January 2013, Lamy Chappuis started again in the Alpine Cup after his first World Cup starts and achieved two top 10 placements in Planica . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec , which took place shortly afterwards , he achieved tenth place in the individual and team competitions. In February he was given the opportunity to compete in the Continental Cup again and was also able to jump into the top ten in Brotterode . With that he received the qualification for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme . After a 38th place in the individual on the normal hill, he reached fifth place in the mixed team competition. He missed the qualification for jumping on the large hill. After he was able to jump to fourth place after the world championship at the Alpine Cup in Chaux-Neuve, he came back to the A-squad in the ski jumping World Cup, but could not reach the competition in any jumping until the end of the season. At the French Ski Jumping Championships in 2013 he won the silver medal in individual jumping on the normal hill in Chaux-Neuve and the gold medal in team competition together with Jason Lamy Chappuis , Samuel Guy and Theo Hannon .

On September 21 and 22, 2013 he achieved his first Grand Prix points at the Summer Grand Prix in Almaty with places 24 and 30. the following winter he survived the qualification for an individual world cup competition in Ruka for the first time, which he started on November 24, 2013 in his first individual world cup. As 49th, he clearly missed the points. In January 2014 he was able to show significantly better performance. On January 11, 2014, he reached his first COC podium in third at the Continental Cup competition in Courchevel . On January 16, he got his first World Cup points with rank 24 in Wisła . Shortly afterwards, his best World Cup placement was able to improve twice as 18th in Zakopane and eleventh in Sapporo . This eleventh place remained his best result in an individual World Cup until the end of his career. In February 2014 he took part in the Winter Olympics in Sochi , Russia . In the two individual competitions he finished 41st on the normal hill and 36th on the large hill.

In the summer of 2014 he did not reach the points in any of his starts in the Grand Prix . In the 2014/15 World Cup , he ended up in the top 30 four times, but did not get past 25th in Innsbruck . In February 2015, he took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships for the second time in Falun, Sweden . On the normal hill, he finished 26th in the individual and eighth place with the French mixed team. On the large hill he was 41st in the individual.

In the summer of 2015 he was placed among the top 30 in the Grand Prix. In Courchevel he was ranked 26th. On September 13th, 2015 he took third place at the COC jumping competition in Stams and thus achieved his second and final podium finish in this series of competitions . In the 2015/16 winter season he once again jumped into the points in the World Cup several times . His best results of the season were two 23rd places. He got a total of 24 World Cup points. In the overall World Cup, he finished 52nd and thus achieved his best career placement.

On July 30, 2016, at the Summer Grand Prix in Hinterzarten, he achieved the best individual placement of his career in the Grand Prix with 20th place. In total, he scored 14 Grand Prix points in 2016 and finished 64th in the overall ranking. In the World Cup 2016/17 he missed the points at all of his starts. He competed in his last international competitions on January 14 and 15, 2017 as part of the Continental Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . He then had to end the 2016/17 season prematurely due to back pain. An examination in April 2017 found that the cause of this pain was a benign bone tumor. This had to be surgically removed and a bone transplant was necessary. Lamy Chappuis made his comeback after his injury in March 2018 at the French Championships , where he finished second. After that, he decided not to continue his career and he announced his retirement on September 30, 2017.
