Hanna Midtsundstad (born September 22, 1999 ) is a Norwegian Nordic combined skier who was also internationally active as a ski jumper . In March 2016 she became the first Norwegian woman champion in Nordic combined.

Career

Midtsundstad, which competes for the Vaaler IL , made its international debut on August 29, 2014 at an FIS youth competition in Oberstdorf . In the following years, Midtsundtad competed repeatedly in international competitions as part of the Youth Cup , but took part more often in ski jumping competitions. She made her debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Notodden on December 12, 2014 , but only reached the points in January 2015 in Falun, Sweden . Her last participation in an international ski jumping event was in September 2017 at the Continental Cup jumping in Trondheim .

The Norwegian Ski Association was one of the first associations to hold official championships in Nordic combined. For example, at the age of 16, Midtsundstad took part in the championships held for the first time in 2016 and was able to win the Gundersen competition from the middle hill and over 3 km ahead of Anna Odine Strøm . She celebrated her second championship title in summer 2017 in Lillehammer on the normal hill of Lysgårdsbakken and over 5 kilometers.

In the first edition of the Continental Cup , Midtsundstad only started in the two competitions in Rena , where she only finished in the lower ranks. In the 2018/19 season she did not start in all competitions of the Continental Cup, but was able to convince with a total of three placements among the top ten in her five participations. In the absence of the Norwegian national team, she won the team competition of the ski jumping championships together with Mathilde Oustad in January 2019 . A few weeks later, Midtsundstad took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2019 , at which a junior women competition was held in combination for the first time. By reaching eighteenth place, Midtsundstad fell short of their expectations.
