Shihori Ōi ( Japanese 大 井 栞 , Ōi Shihori ; born June 29, 1999 in Sapporo ) is a Japanese ski jumper .

Career

Shihori Ōi made her international debut at the FIS Cup in the summer of 2014. At her first appearance on July 12th and 13th, she jumped eleventh and ninth in Villach , making her the best Japanese woman. In the 2014/15 World Cup season she was in the national group in both Sapporo and Yamagata . In both competitions she was in the first round. As a result, she made her debut in the World Cup on January 10, 2015 in Sapporo . She finished 31st. A week later, she finished 44th in Yamagata. So she could not get any World Cup points in the 2014/15 season. After her appearances in the World Cup, she started at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Almaty . In the individual on the normal hill she finished 19th. In the team competition, which was also held on the normal hill, she jumped with Nozomi Maruyama , Yurina Yamada and Yūka Setō to the bronze rank behind the teams from Germany and Russia .

In summer 2015 she made her debut in the Continental Cup in Oslo . With places 20 and 23, she was able to get her first points. In the 2015/16 World Cup season she was again in the national group in Sapporo and Yamagata. However, she missed qualifying for the competition at both starts. As a result, she was repeatedly unable to get any World Cup points in 2015/16. Following the World Cup competitions in Japan, she took part in the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer . She took eleventh place in the individual, eighth place in the mixed team competition (ski jumping / Nordic combined) and seventh place in the Nordic mixed team competition (ski jumping / Nordic combined / cross-country skiing). She was also registered for the individual competition of the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2016 in Râșnov , although she did not start.

After rather mixed results in the FIS Cup and only a 20th place at the Summer Continental Cup in Lillehammer , Ōi got a starting place in the qualification for the Ski Jumping World Cup in January 2017 as part of the national group . As 28th, she made it into the competition, where she was eliminated in round one. One day later she could not qualify for the second competition. In March Ōi went again at two FIS competitions in Sapporo. In the 2017/18 season , Ōi again belonged to the national group in Sapporo, but missed the competition there, as in Zaō . At the following Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2018 in Kandersteg , she fell well short of expectations as 35th in the individual competition. With the team she reached a sixth and a seventh place.

In the 2018/19 season , Ōi again took part in World Cup competitions in Sapporo , but, like a week later in Zaō, did not qualify for the second round. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2019 , she took seventh place in the individual competition on the Salpausselkä normal hill . Together with Rio Seto , Ren Mikase and Ayaka Igarashi , she just missed the medal ranks as fourth in the team competition. In the mixed team, she was again seventh. In March Ōi returned to the national team and made the jump from Holmenkollbakken in Oslo with only 89.0 meters in the second round, at the end of which she finished 28th, with which she got the first World Cup points of her career. At the following Raw Air event , she did not reach the points in any competition, but in the end she was 37th overall.

In the summer of 2019 she started in the Continental Cup in Szczyrk and scored her first points of the season as 19th and 22nd.
