Rio Setō ( Japanese 勢 藤 理 桜 Setō Rio ; * April 23, 2001 ) is a former Japanese ski jumper .

Career

Rio Setō started internationally for the first time on September 3rd and 4th, 2016 in Einsiedeln in the FIS Cup , where she took 16th place twice. A week later, she made her debut on September 10, 2016 in Lillehammer in the Continental Cup , where she reached 31st place and narrowly missed her first Continental Cup points. On January 28, 2017, Setō won their first FIS Cup competition in Eau Claire .

In September 2018 she won her first Continental Cup points in two competitions at Midtstuenbakken in Oslo with places 22 and 24. Her best Continental Cup placement so far (as of December 4, 2019) was a seventh place in the competition in Szczyrk, Poland on August 8, 2019.

Setō made her debut on January 18, 2019 at the competition in Zaō in the Ski Jumping World Cup , where she missed the second round with 44th place.

On August 18, 2019 Setō started in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm for the first time in the Grand Prix . Here she took 18th place, which she was in the final season's overall standings with 13 points in 30th place.

Setō ended her career after the 2019/20 season.

Private

Rio Setō is the younger sister of Yūka Setō (* 1997), who is also active as a ski jumper.

Setō currently lives on Hokkaidō .
