Wassyl Schurakivskyj ( Ukrainian Василь Жураківський ; born January 23, 1991 in Kremenez ) is a former Ukrainian ski jumper who previously competed in the Nordic combined .

Career

Nordic combined career

Schurakivskyj took part in the Junior World Ski Championships every year from 2006 to 2010 , but remained unsuccessful. His best result was a 46th place in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso . He also took part in two competitions in the B World Cup, both of which took place in the 2007/08 season. In Vuokatti, Finland, he was 66th, in Liberec, Czech Republic, 58th. In addition, Schurakivskyj took part in four Continental Cups in the 2008/09 season. In Bischofshofen he was 57th and 52nd and in Kranj 37th and 35th . He also took part in the Universiade in Yabuli . In the HS90 / Gundersen 10 km discipline, Zhurakivskyy was 21st, in HS 90 / mass start 13th and in the team sixth. In March 2009 Shurakivskyj in Vorokhta was Ukrainian champion with the team. In the 2009/10 season he took part in the Nordic Combined only in the Junior World Championship.

In 2010 he ended his career as a Nordic combined athlete, in which he had participated in five Junior World Championships, one Universiade, four Continental Cups and two B-World Cups, and switched to special jumpers.

Career in ski jumping

As a Nordic combined athlete, he started several times as a special jumper. In four FIS Cups: in the 2006/07 season in Zakopane , where he was 59th twice, and in the 2009/10 season in Szczyrk , where he was 47th and 26th, in the team competition at the Universiade in Yabuli 2009, where the team finished ninth and penultimate place. In addition, Shurakivskyj helped out at the Junior World Championships in 2007, 2009 and 2010, where he finished 13th, 16th and 15th, because Ukraine would otherwise not have been able to provide a team. In 2007 he took part in an individual competition in Tarvisio as part of the Junior World Championships, but was only 73rd and last. In 2010 he switched to the special jumpers.

He made his first international appearance at the Continental Cup in Kranj at the beginning of July when he was 65. Two days later he reached 65th place again in Velenje . At the end of July Schurakiwskyj also competed in the FIS Cup in Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia , and finished 31st and 15th. With Wolodymyr Weredjuk , Witalij Schumbarez and Wolodymyr Boschtschuk he was 14th and last. Only two months later he jumped internationally at the Continental Cup in Wisła and was 49th. In winter, Schurakiwskyj finished 44th and 49th at the Continental Cup in Erzurum . In January 2011 Schurakiwskyj jumped again in the FIS Cup. In Strbske Pleso he was 23rd and 32nd and in Szczyrk 24th and 30th. At the Continental Cup jumping competition on December 18, 2011 in Erzurum, Turkey, he was able to qualify for the second round in this competition for the first time and was also 30th his first Continental Cup point. At the Ukrainian championships in Vorokhta he finished third in the individual and won the team competition with the Tarnopol team.
