Vorokhta (Ukrainian and Russian Ворохта ; polish Vorokhta ) is an urban-type in the western Ukrainian Ivano-Frankivsk oblast on the upper reaches of the river Pruth on the north side of the Carpathian , about 71 kilometers from Ivano-Frankivsk. The settlement belongs to the municipality of Yaremche and is surrounded by the area of Nadvirna district . From Vorokhta leading regional road Р-62 over the Krywopillja pass to Verkhovyna .
history
It grew after the construction of railroad ( railway Sighetu Marmaţiei-Ivano-Frankivsk ) and the establishment of a stop 1894 to a larger locality, 1895 was also a forest path in Pruth-valley to the mouth of Foreschtschanka built -Baches. He remained a center of the Hutsuls in this area. After the end of the First World War , the place came to Poland and developed into a tourist center. In 1939 Vorokhta was occupied by the Red Army, but came under German administration after the attack on the Soviet Union in 1941, was not conquered by the Soviet Union again until 1945 and then remained in the Ukrainian SSR or, since 1991, a part of Ukraine. Under Soviet rule, the place was expanded into a winter sports resort, today there are many ski lifts and slopes around the place. Since 1960 the place has the status of an urban-type settlement. In 1965 the forest railway, which at that time had a total length of 13.5 kilometers, was discontinued.
