Helvis from Haifa

Helvis of Haifa (also Aalis ; † around 1264) was mistress of Haifa in the Kingdom of Jerusalem .

She was the eldest of four daughters of Rohard II of Haifa and his wife Aiglantine of Nephin . When her father died, she inherited his rule in Haifa, which her husbands took over. She was married three times. First marriage to Gottfried Poulain , second marriage to García Álvarez and third marriage to Johann von Valenciennes .

From her first marriage she had two sons and a daughter:

  • Gilles , ∞ Margarethe de Brie
  • Rohard
  • Aiglantine, ∞ Anseau de Brie, brother of Margarethes de Brie

Her eldest son, Gilles, came of age by 1264 at the latest and became the lord of Haifa, which was conquered by the Mamluks the following year .
