Gilles I (Haifa)
Gilles Poulain (* before 1250, † around 1270) was Lord of Haifa in the Kingdom of Jerusalem .
He was the older son of Gottfried Poulain and Helvis von Haifa . His father died when he was young. When Gilles came of age around 1264, his stepfather Johann von Valenciennes left him the rule of Haifa, which came from his mother's right .
Gilles' reign over Haifa did not last long, as early as 1265 the rule was conquered by the Egyptian Mamluks .
He was married to Margarethe de Brie, the daughter of Johann de Brie and Alix Chappe. Margaret's brother Anselm de Brie married Gilles' sister Aiglantine. With Margarethe, Gilles had two sons and a daughter:
- Gottfried († around 1279), titular lord of Haifa ∞ daughter of Johann Beduin
- Rohard, ∞ I) Alicia, daughter of Pietro da Gloria, from Pisa, ∞ II) Beatrix de Pécquigny
- Helvis, ∞ Hugo, Mr. von Radouf
