Gottfried Poulain

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gottfried Poulain (also Joffroi or Geoffroy ; † before May 4, 1250) was lord of Haifa by marriage .

He was a knight of unknown, possibly French origin. In the Lignages d'Outre-Mer he is named as the first husband of Helvis of Haifa , the eldest daughter and heir of Rohard II of Haifa . By their right he was lord of Haifa after the death of Rohard II. With Helvis he had two sons and a daughter:

  • Gilles , Lord of Haifa in 1264, ∞ Margarethe de Brie
  • Rohard
  • Aiglantine, ∞ Anseau de Brie, brother of Margarethes de Brie

Gottfried died in the spring of 1250 at the latest. After his death, his wife married García Álvarez and Jean de Valenciennes twice . The latter probably left Haifa to rule Haifa to Gottfried's son Gilles, who was now of legal age.
