Rohard II (Haifa)

Rohard II (also Rohart , Latin Rohardus Cayphæ ; * before 1183; † before 1244) was lord of Haifa and chamberlain of Jerusalem .

He was the son and heir of Pagan II of Haifa and his wife Hodierna. From October 1198 he is documented as Lord of Haifa. Between 1201 he was also treasurer of the Kingdom of Jerusalem in 1220 . Between 1229 and 1232 his younger brother Rainald is named in the office of chamberlain.

Rohard was married to Aiglantine, the youngest daughter of Raymond II, Lord of Nephin in the county of Tripoli . She was the sister of Lord Renouard II of Nephin. With Aiglantine von Nephin he had four daughters Rohard:

  • Helvis , Mistress of Haifa, ⚭ I) Gottfried Poulain († before 1250), ⚭ II) before May 1250 García Álvarez († before 1257), ⚭ III) around 1257 Johann von Valenciennes († after 1265).
  • Alix († after June 1241), ⚭ 1236 Johann von Ibelin († 1258), Lord of Arsuf.
  • Agnes, ⚭ Boverel de Grimaut, from Genoa.
  • Isabella, ⚭ Raoul von Blanchegarde († after 1265), son of Gilles of Beirut and Agnes of Leiron.

After his death, his eldest daughter Helvis and her husbands inherited the Haifa rule.
