In the 2007/2008 season, Sawaya made her debut in the Continental Cup and finished in 61st place. In the following seasons she finished similarly at the end. When she took part in the Universiade 2009 in Yabuli , Sawaya came second in the individual competition and won her first silver medal. Sawaya made her debut in the ski jumping World Cup in the 2011/12 season with participation in two competitions in Zaō , in which she finished 42nd and 43rd. So she finished this season without a single World Cup point.
After it did not start internationally, it was used in March 2013 at the FIS races in Sapporo . In September she started in Râşnov as part of the FIS Cup and achieved two good top 10 placements. In Zaō, Sawaya started again in the World Cup on January 18, 2015, but stayed 46 again behind the points. In September 2015 it was used in the Continental Cup in Notodden for the first time in a long time and achieved two good top 20 placings, which will place it again in the overall standings in the 2015/16 season.
