Career

Cecon made his debut in international competition at two competitions as part of the FIS Cup on February 5 and 6, 2011 in Kranj , in which he did not start in the first and was 14th in the second. After further competitions in the FIS Cup, he made his debut in Oberwiesenthal in the Alpine Cup in October of the same year and reached places 53 and 59, after further good competitions in March 2012 in the Continental Cup in Predazzo and was 52nd and 53rd.

Cecon competed regularly and with moderate success in the Continental Cup, FIS Cup and Alpine Cup in the following years, his best result was a fifth place in the FIS Cup in August 2013, again in Kranj. After another fifth place, he won his first podium in the FIS Cup that same month in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm with a third place. After several failed qualifications and a few participations in team competitions in the World Cup , Cecon finally made his debut in December 2014 with places 42 and 43 in Nizhny Tagil in the World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 2015 , he finished 48th on the normal hill and 49th on the large hill in the individual competitions. With the team he was twelfth.

In the summer of 2015 he made his debut in the Summer Grand Prix . With the places 40 in Wisła and 41 in Courchevel , however, he could not get any points. After the summer of 2015, he did not take part in any World Cup or Grand Prix jumping for more than two years. During this period he started at COC and FIS Cup competitions. His best results during this time were a tenth place in the COC and a podium finish in the FIS Cup in second. It was only in February 2018 that he was part of the Italian World Cup line-up again in Willingen at the last World Cup station before the 2018 Winter Olympics . In the first individual competition he failed in qualification and in the second competition, for which no qualification was held, he finished 51st. He then took part in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and started there in all three competitions. In the individual competition on the normal hill he finished 48th and in the individual competition on the large hill he failed as 54th in the qualification. With the Italian team he was eleventh on the large hill .

At the end of January 2020, at the FIS Cup competition in Rastbüchl , he jumped second on the podium for the first time in an international jumping competition. A week later, for the first time since August 2015, he achieved a top 10 placement in the Continental Cup .
