Tarō Takayanagi ( Japanese 高 柳 太郎 , Takayanagi Tarō ; born June 2, 1982 in Sapporo ) is a Japanese ski jumper .

Career

Takayanagi made his international debut at the Ski Jumping Continental Cup for the 1999/2000 season. With a total of six points won, he ended up in 127th place overall at the end of the season. In August 2000 he started at the Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Hakuba . With the 48th place, however, he remained behind the points. Back in the Continental Cup, he missed the points in all competitions in the 2000/01 season and thus a place in the overall standings.

After he started exclusively in the Japanese jumping competitions in the 2001/02 season and again without winning a point, he was not given a starting place in the summer competitions after the end of the season. After he showed good performances at the FIS jumping in Tarvisio in January 2003, he got a starting place in the Continental Cup at the end of the season and reached the points in Yamagata as 17th and 23rd in both competitions. He achieved a total of 22 points and thus rank 142 in the overall ranking.

After he paused for two years and also only started unsuccessfully in FIS jumping competitions and in the FIS Cup in Japan in 2005 and 2006 , Takayanagi came back to the B squad in January 2008 in Sapporo . He surprised with a seventh place in the second competition and was given the opportunity three weeks later to compete in a ski jumping World Cup for the first time . He clearly missed the points on the same hill in Sapporo. In March he started again in the FIS Cup and achieved fifth place as the best individual placement.

It was only in September 2009 that he managed to win points in the Continental Cup again. In the competitions in the Alpensia Jumping Park in Pyeongchang , he reached positions 19 and 22. After another longer break, Takayanagi was able to jump well among the best in the Continental Cup in Sapporo in January 2011 and also achieved a top 10 position for the first time. In the following two World Cup competitions in Sapporo, he again missed the points, but was able to improve compared to his last appearance in the World Cup.

In the summer of 2011, Takayanagi switched again between the various series. Starting in the Continental Cup, where he won points in Kranj and Stams , a few days later he moved to the FIS Cup in Villach , where he was twice on the podium as third. At the end of August 2011 he started again at the Grand Prix in Hakuba for the first time and won a point as 30th, which after an unsuccessful start in Almaty brought him 88th place in the Grand Prix overall standings.

After he only competed in two FIS competitions in Sapporo in the 2011/12 season, he started again in the same place in two competitions in the Continental Cup in January 2013. He achieved a total of 10 points, with which he finished 155th overall.
