Career

At the Canadian Championships on March 31, 2012 in Whistler Olympic Park , she was third behind Taylor Henrich and Nata De Leeuw .

Alexandra Pretorius had her first podium places in international competitions at the summer jumping of the FIS Cup for women at the Villach Alpine Arena : on July 14, 2012 she was third and on July 15, 2012 she was second. On 2/4 August 2012 she jumped out of competition at the US championships (the US jumpers later also participated out of competition in the Canadian championship). She won the show jumping in Park City on both the HS-134 and the HS-100 hill.

When she first competed in the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2012 , she won the first competition of the season on August 14, 2012 at the Tremplin du Praz facility in Courchevel ahead of Daniela Iraschko . The newly introduced Summer Grand Prix 2012 for women consisted of four competitions. On August 17th, 2012 on the Adlerschanze in Hinterzarten she finished ninth, on September 22nd and 23rd, 2012 in Almaty she was third. In the overall Grand Prix 2012, Alexandra Pretorius took second place behind Sara Takanashi .

At her first start in the individual competition of the Ski Jumping World Cup on November 24, 2012 in Lillehammer , she was disqualified for a suit that did not comply with the rules. On December 9, 2012 in Sochi , she scored 15th place for the first time. On August 12, 2013, Pretorius fell while training for the Summer Grand Prix in Courchevel and suffered a knee injury.

After she had completed her first training jumps and was nominated for the Canadian Olympic squad for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, she suffered another knee injury and was unable to take part in the premiere of women's ski jumping.

At the end of October 2014 Pretorius announced the end of her career and justified this with her series of injuries.
