Vegard Haukø Sklett (born February 10, 1986 in Grong ) is a former Norwegian ski jumper .

Career

Vegard Sklett has been part of the Norwegian national team since 2007. After an FIS race on July 29, 2007 in Bischofshofen , where he achieved 2nd place, he started in the Continental Cup in the 2007/08 season . He achieved his best result on March 11, 2008 in the last competition of the season in Vikersund with a 3rd place. After two participations in the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2008 with only moderate success, he starts again in the Continental Cup in the 2008/09 season . After winning two competitions there in Sapporo and Bischofshofen at the end of the season, he was nominated for the senior national team and competed in his first World Cup competition on January 30, 2009 in Sapporo, Japan . Immediately he made the jump to the final round and finished jumping in 24th place. On February 8th, 2009 he even made it to 19th place in the World Cup competition in Willingen . This position he was able to achieve in the jumping in Klingenthal on February 11th reach once. At the Norwegian championships on the large hill on February 8, 2011 on the Holmenkollbakken in Oslo , he was second to win an individual medal for the first time after jumping on the podium several times with the team from Nord-Trøndelag since 2006. At the World Cup team competition in Harrachov , Czech Republic , he celebrated his first World Cup victory with the Norwegian team on December 10, 2011. On January 28th, 2012 he reached his best World Cup position in an individual competition with fourth place in the jumping in Sapporo.

On January 3, 2009, Sklett managed the longest jump ever made there on Granåsen in Trondheim with 145.0 m, which was only exceeded in 2012 by Anders Bardal at the Norwegian Championships with 146.0 m. However, both jumps are not considered hill records, as they were not achieved in the World Cup. He had a serious fall on this hill on August 30, 2012 when a gust of wind caught him after about 80 meters of flight. Sklett did not suffer any serious injuries, but has only been used in the Continental Cup occasionally and has not been able to match the results of the previous season. Before the fall, he was intended for the World Cup team, from which he has now been ousted by the returned Anders Jacobsen . After the season he ended his active career.
