Career

Karlen made his international debut at the FIS Junior Jumping in summer 2008 in Einsiedeln . From March 2010 he started in Chaux-Neuve for the first time in the Alpine Ski Jumping Cup . In August 2012, Karlen made it into the points for the first time after several poor results on the lower ranks in Einsiedeln. After two good points successes in the FIS Cup on the same hill in October 2012, he started in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup for the first time in December . In Engelberg he was disqualified in the first competition. In the second competition he clearly missed the points as 79th.

Then Karlen stayed primarily in the C-team and continued to compete in the FIS Cup and only rarely in the Continental Cup competitions. In December 2013 he jumped into the top twenty for the first time in the Continental Cup in Lahti . On January 3, 2014, he qualified for the World Cup in Innsbruck as part of the Four Hills Tournament 2013/14 . As 72nd, however, he clearly missed the competition on Bergiselschanze . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2014 in Val di Fiemme , he finished 45th in individual jumping.

After he jumped into the top 10 at the Alpine Cup competition in Chaux-Neuve in March 2014, he got another starting place for the qualification competition for the World Cup in Planica . However, he did not reach the competition again. He finally made his World Cup debut on March 23, 2014 in the team competition in the same place, where he achieved eighth place together with Marco Grigoli , Simon Ammann and Gregor Deschwanden .

At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Sweden's Falun he belonged to the Swiss squad for the team event and jumped together with Killian Peier , Gregor Deschwanden and Simon Ammann ranked 10th
