Julio Maceiras , full name Julio César Maceiras Fauque , (born April 22, 1926 or April 24, 1927 in Montevideo , † September 6, 2011 ) was a Uruguayan football player and coach.
Player career
society
During his youth he was part of the teams of Honor y Gloria , Alacrán and Yatay . In 1945 he joined the Montevideo Wanderers . There the goalkeeper made his debut in a game against River Plate Montevideo in Parque Saroldi . He made his debut in the Primera División in a 4-1 loss to Nacional Montevideo . Maceiras then moved to Danubio FC in 1947 for a transfer fee of 1100 Pesos and was in the squad of the Uruguayan club until 1959. In 1947 he rose with the Montevideans as a master of the B in the Primera División. The best season final placement during his team membership was third place in 1954. From 1952 until his departure in 1959, he was also team captain. In 1958 he was runner-up in the Torneo Competencia with the team . In 1959 he rose at the end of the season with Danubio from the highest Uruguayan league. At the end of his career he was still playing in Canelones for Juanicó . As a 33-year-old he won the Departmental Championship there.
National team
Maceiras was a member of the senior team of Uruguay , for which he made eight international matches from his debut on May 23, 1954 to his last appearance on July 1, 1956. He conceded a total of ten goals in the course of his international career. He took part in the 1954 World Cup with Uruguay . In the course of the competition, however, it was not used. Maceiras was also part of the Uruguayan squad at the 1956 South American Championships in Uruguay. He won the tournament with the Celeste.

Coaching career
Later Maceiras also worked as a trainer. He looked after the Formativas (the reserve team) of Nacional Montevideo and the La Luz Fútbol Club . With the latter club he won the intermedia championship .
