Career

Heiskanen, who starts for the Puijon Hiihtoseura club , made his international debut in January 2008 as part of the FIS Cup in Kuopio . After he was able to convince with places 16 and 13 and won a total of 35 points for the overall standings, he made his debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in December of the same year . From the normal hill in Rovaniemi , however, he was only 63rd in the end.

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso , he started in the team competition and in the end reached ninth place with the team. At the two subsequent Continental Cup competitions in Zakopane , he only landed beyond 70th place and again fell short of expectations. After a year of international break, winning the silver medal in team jumping at the Finnish Championships in Lahti in 2010 and mixed results in FIS jumping and the FIS Cup in Zao, he was able to convince again in August in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, with sixth and seventh places for the first time . In December 2010 he got the chance to start again in the Continental Cup, but stayed in both competitions in Rovaniemi beyond the top placements.

After another year he got the right to start in the Continental Cup again on the same hill and immediately won his first Continental Cup points with 27th place. Before that, he won the bronze medal with the team at the Finnish Championships 2011 in Jyväskylä . Despite the lack of success in the Continental Cup, Heiskanen started on January 19, 2012 in Zakopane for the first time in a qualification for a jumping in the Ski Jumping World Cup . After qualifying as 41st, he clearly missed the second round as 49th in the competition two days later. A week later he again won important points at the Continental Cup in Bischofshofen .

At the beginning of March 2012 he started again in a World Cup competition in Lahti and was 36th just behind the points. After he could not achieve good placements in either the FIS Cup or the Continental Cup in Kuopio in summer 2012 , Heiskanen took another international break. It was not until February 2013 that he returned to the Continental Cup squad and surprisingly achieved two 14th places in Planica. He then traveled to the World Cup jumping in Willingen . There he missed the qualification for the individual jumping as 35th and finished eleventh with the team in the team world cup.

After Heiskanen reached a good place in the qualification as 26th in the ski flying World Cup in Oberstdorf , he missed the points in the competition again as 36th. With the team, he was in eighth place in the team competition. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in the Italian Val di Fiemme Heiskanen jumped on the normal hill on rank 50. After he missed on the large hill qualifying, he was with the team on the large hill eleventh. He ended the 2012/13 World Cup season with a missed qualification for the World Cup in Kuopio. Before that, he won the individual silver medal at the Finnish Championships in Lahti in 2013 . At the 2013 Summer Championships, he was only eighth in the individual, but was able to win the runner-up title with the team of Puijon Hiihtoseura .

On January 25, 2014, he reached his first five World Cup points as 26th in jumping in Sapporo . This is also his best result so far in a World Cup competition.
