overall view

The fire control device 63 Superfledermaus from Contraves (Flt Gt 63) is an omnidirectional pulse radar device, 111 of which were used by the Swiss Air Force from 1965 to 1977 . The Superfledermaus fire control system was jointly developed and produced by ten companies. It replaced the Mark VII fire control radar .

function

The Flt Gt 63 simultaneously controls two anti-aircraft guns with 35 mm Oerlikon twin cannons . It monitors the airspace with the radar, tracks the target to be attacked with radar or optically and determines the shooting data for the connected guns without delay. With the Optical Allocator (OZ), targets can be assigned directly to the straightening device. The target assignment from the target assignment radar (ZZR) takes place via verbal radio or telephone transmission to the parallax computer operator, who enters the data into the device. On a towed trailer, it comprises a Doppler radar in the E / F band with a range of 15 kilometers and a pulse Doppler radar in the J band with a range of 15 kilometers as well. The system was also used in the first prototype of the Gepard anti-aircraft gunship .

technology

  • Pulse radar with the option of round or sector searches and automatic following
  • Range: 40 km
  • Frequency: 8600-9600 MHz
  • Transmit pulse power: 150 kW
  • Weight: 5400 kg
  • Power supply by 4-cylinder Porsche unit with generator 23 kW 380 V.
  • Analog computer with AC technology and computing capacitors / servo systems for target control, target data imitation, lead calculation and balance calculator
  • X-band fire control radar "Albiswerk" with magnetron transmitter, PPI and RH / A display
  • Sector and circular searches, conical scan target tracking.

Fire control unit / Flt Gt 69 super bat

The fire control device Flt Gt 69 is based on the Flt Gt 63 and was used in 38 units by the Swiss Air Force at the M Flpl Flab Bttr (Mobile Flugplatz Flab Batteries) from 1970 to 1985.

  • Pulse radar with level signal suppression
  • three optical homing devices (OZ)
  • other data as for Flt Gt 63

The Flt Gt 63 and the Fl Gt 69 were replaced by the Skyguard fire control system in the Swiss Air Force .
