Contraves

Contraves is a brand name of Contraves AG (later Contraves Space AG ).

The Swiss armaments company was founded in 1936 by Fritz Fischer and Max Lattmann and is known worldwide for the production of high quality instruments and measuring systems for precision mechanics , optics and electronics .

The groundbreaking developments by Contraves, whose production range also included simple drawing devices, included the design and construction of kinetheodolites for satellites and space travel, or the first practical, crash-proof graphics terminals that were developed for the purposes of the specialist or national geographic information systems established around 1990 . In 1999 Rheinmetall took over the previously separated Oerlikon Contraves .
