Pascal Sommer (born June 29, 1992 ) is a former Swiss ski jumper .
Career
Summer made his international debut in March 2007 as part of an FIS junior competition. From October of the same year he was part of the C-squad in the FIS Cup . A year later he was used for the first time in the Alpine Cup in Predazzo . Although he did not achieve top placements in either the FIS or the Alpine Cup, he was used in December 2009 as part of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Engelberg . As 72nd and 70th, he clearly missed the points.
At the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships 2010 in Einsiedeln , Sommer won his first Swiss championship title in team jumping together with Adrian Schuler , Tommy Schmid and Andreas Küttel . In December he received another starting place in the Continental Cup, but was disqualified by Engelberg in the first competition. In summer 2011, Gérardmer and Einsiedeln achieved four top 10 placements in the FIS Cup. After two further 16th places in Kranj , he was used again in the Continental Cup in Trondheim and Klingenthal . He narrowly missed the points in Trondheim.
Sommer remained in the C-squad and only started irregularly in the higher-class Continental Cup. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Erzurum , Sommer achieved 17th place in individual jumping. With the team he finished seventh in the team competition. In September 2012 he collected points for the first time at the Continental Cup in Lillehammer . A little later he was invited to the ski jumping Grand Prix in Hinzenbach , but missed the qualification there. After winning silver with the team at the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships in Einsiedeln in 2012 , he was second on the podium for the first time at the FIS Cup in the same place.
On November 11, 2012, Sommer won the Zurich Ski Association Championship. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he traveled to Kuusamo with the national team and took part in the qualification for the ski jumping World Cup. After he clearly missed this for the individual competition, he started with the team at the team world cup one day later and finished ninth. For the World Cup in Engelberg, he just missed qualifying in 55th place. Thereupon Sommer went back to the B-squad and started in the Continental Cup until March. However, he only managed to make it into the points in one jumping in Brotterode . From March he was demoted from the B-squad to the C-squad and started again in the FIS-Cup.
At the 2013 Swiss Ski Jumping Championships in Chaux-Neuve , France , Sommer won his second Swiss championship title together with Tobias Birchler , Andreas Schuler and Pascal Kälin .
In December 2013, Sommer performed again jumping in the Continental Cup in Rena . Since he did not get any points, Sommer did his last jumping in Engelberg at the end of December. A little later he officially ended his active career.
