Markus Eggenhofer (born December 11, 1987 in Radstadt ) is a former Austrian ski jumper .
Career
The 1.82 m tall Austrian has been playing for SC Bischofshofen since summer 1999. He attended the ski school in Stams and was part of the ÖSV-B team for two years. In the 2007/08 season he won three FIS Cup competitions, two of them in Bischofshofen and one in Vancouver . Several additional podium places earned him first place in the FIS Cup overall ranking. In the Continental Cup he reached his first podium in September 2008 with a second and a third place in Lillehammer . The first victory followed on September 21, 2008 in Villach .
He made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup on November 29, 2008 in Kuusamo as the 25th, after which he was temporarily part of the A-team of the Austrian ski jumpers. At the World Cup jumping on December 20, 2008, he landed in Engelberg in eighth place, which is his best World Cup placement so far. He landed his longest jump in March 2009 in Planica at 196.5 m. On February 7th, 2009 he celebrated his first World Cup victory with the Austrian team in Willingen . That year he also took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships for the first time, the venue was Liberec .
Eggenhofer played his last World Cup competition on January 6, 2010 in Bischofshofen as part of the Four Hills Tournament 2009/10 . Since then he has mainly jumped in the second-rate Continental Cup.
Markus Eggenhofer was trained by Hannes Wenninger and Alexander Pointner , among others .
Eggenhofer has a sports marketing diploma and is a state-certified specialist trainer in the field of jumping. In 2019 he became a base trainer for the Nordic combined athletes at the Saalfelden ski school.
