Ossi-Pekka Valta (born November 22, 1991 ) is a Finnish ski jumper .

Career

Valta made his international debut in January 2008 at the FIS Cup in Kuopio . In the first competition he was ninth in the top ten. After he impressed with tenth place in the second competition, he made his debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in February . In Iron Mountain , he just missed the points as 35th. He also missed out on the points in Falun in October . It then took a year before he competed internationally in the FIS Cup in Einsiedeln .

In the summer of 2010, he started again in the Continental Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , but ended up only far behind in 71st place. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2011 in Otepää , he also jumped 53rd just behind.

After Valta achieved two good FIS Cup results in Szczyrk in August 2011 , he was accepted into the B national team in the Continental Cup for the 2011/12 season. In February 2012 he jumped the points for the first time in Wisła in eighth place. At the end of the season in Kuopio, he jumped twice into the second round. The season he finally finished with 58 points on the 68th place overall.

After he failed to win points at the Continental Cup in Lillehammer in the summer and was disqualified in the second event, he started the qualification for the Ski Jumping World Cup in Kuusamo at the beginning of the 2012/13 season . He clearly missed this as 55th. After a break from competition until February, he returned to the Continental Cup in Planica , but was again without any points. Previously, he had finished eighth at the 2013 Finnish Ski Jumping Championships in January .

After he narrowly failed to qualify as 32nd in the individual qualification at the Ski Flying World Cup in Oberstdorf , he started team flying with the team on February 15, 2013 and reached eighth place. At the Continental Cups in Liberec at the end of the season, he ended up outside of the points.

Valta started the 2013/14 season with the start of the 2013 Winter Universiade in Trentino , which was held in Predazzo . After finishing 20th on the normal hill, he finished sixth with the team in the same place a little later. From the large hill he finished 12th in the individual.

Valta is studying at Lahti University of Applied Sciences. His brother Eeli-Pekka Valta is also active as a ski jumper. He is currently training the Finnish jumpers in the FIS Cup .
