David Lazzaroni (born February 4, 1985 in Échirolles ) is a former French ski jumper .

Career

As a child he trained on small jumps. In 1995 he jumped in Hinterzarten for the first time on a K90 hill, three years later in Courchevel on a K120 hill. At the age of 16, he temporarily dropped out of training and also left school. It was only when he saw the poor performance of the French ski jumpers at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City on television that he resumed training in order to do better than his colleagues. During his first World Cup appearance on the ski flying hill in Planica in March 2002, he was the best Frenchman in team flying . Since then he has been able to draw attention to himself again and again with various top 30 placings such as 22nd place in Harrachov in December 2005.

The official FIS statistics indicate that his profession is "swimming instructor"; his father Eric Lazzaroni was the coach of the French national ski jumping team in the 2002/03 season . David Lazzaroni was able to gain a foothold in the World Cup for the first time in the 2007/08 season with numerous placements in the top 25. He achieved his best result on January 20, 2008 in Harrachov, Czech Republic, with a sixth place.

At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , Lazzaroni retired from the normal hill as 47th after the 1st round. At the competition on the large hill his performance was better, but here too he could not reach the 2nd round as 34th. In the team competition, he finished 9th together with Vincent Descombes Sevoie , Alexandre Mabboux and Emmanuel Chedal .

In 2010 he announced the end of his career. At the French Championships in Courchevel in 2012 , however, he started again and was runner-up in jumping on the normal hill behind Vincent Descombes Sevoie .
