Career

The sports manager starting for the TJ Dukla Liberec qualified for a World Cup competition for the first time in 2001 in ski flying in Harrachov, Austria . In the following years Sedlák was not often at the start in the World Cup, so that he only reached World Cup points in 2005 - also in Harrachov, but from the large hill. Shortly afterwards, on December 26, 2005, he won not only his only Continental Cup competition so far, with the Christmas competition on the Olympic hill in St. Moritz , but also the last international competition on this hill. His best World Cup season is the 2007/2008 season , in which he has finished six times in the points and reached 17th place in Liberec .

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Borek Sedlák was a member of the Czech Olympic team, reaching the finals as 38th on the normal hill and 40th on the large hill, as well as with the team that finished 9th. Sedlák has not yet been able to qualify for a competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships , but he has already taken part in two ski flying world championships . In 2006 on Kulm he was 8th with the team. In 2008 in Oberstdorf he just failed to reach the finals in the individual competition as 31st, in the team competition he fell in the first round. Nevertheless, the team made it to the finals and was ultimately sixth. He achieved his best individual result in the World Cup on January 31, 2010 in Oberstdorf when he was 14th in ski flying.

At the Ski Flying World Championships 2010 in Planica Sedlák reached 26th place in individual flying on March 20, 2010. In team flying, he reached fifth place with the team. A year later, at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011, 27th place on the normal hill and, together with Roman Koudelka , Jan Matura and Jakub Janda, seventh place in the team event on the same hill. In the World Cup jumping held shortly after the World Cup in Lahti , he missed the qualification before he was eighth with the team the following day. On September 3, 2011 he was in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm Czech champion.

After the 2013/2014 season, Borek Sedlak ended his career and was officially bid farewell in Lomnice nad Popelkou .

Sedlak is assistant race director at the side of FIS race director Walter Hofer .
