Ski Flying World Championship 2006
The Ski Flying World Championship 2006 was organized by the World Ski Federation FIS from January 12th to 15th at the Kulm in Bad Mitterndorf / Tauplitz . In addition to the individual competition, which consisted of four rounds held over two days, a team competition was also held.
The defending champion Roar Ljøkelsøy from Norway won the individual competition ahead of the two Austrians Andreas Widhölzl and Thomas Morgenstern . The Norwegian team won the team competition, places two and three went to Finland and Germany .

In the qualification held on January 12th, the starting field was reduced to 40 jumpers from 14 countries. After the first round it was again reduced to 30 jumpers from 11 countries. For the team competition, nine nations put together a team of four jumpers each.

After the first round the Austrian Andreas Widhölzl was in the front, but already in the second round the defending champion Roar Ljøkelsøy from Norway was able to take the lead, which he held until the end of the championship. The Austrian Thomas Morgenstern showed me the longest flight, 210.5 m in the fourth round.

The team from Austria favored in the run-up only achieved fourth place after Andreas Kofler landed at only 95 meters in the first round. The longest flights were shown by the Slovenian Robert Kranjec , who reached 207.0 m in both rounds.
