competition
The first day of the Ski Flying World Championships served the jumpers as a pure training day. The competition rules stipulated a total of four rounds in two days, but as is so often the case, the wind intervened at the first World Cup . The first two rounds on Saturday could still be carried out. Sunday was canceled due to strong winds, so the result from the previous day counted. The best on Saturday was by a large margin the Swiss Walter Steiner . In the first round he reached 155 meters and landed well ahead of second-placed Heinz Wosipiwo (146 meters). Jiří Raška from Czechoslovakia was currently on the bronze course . In the second round, the lead over his competition was even greater. For 158 meters he got the highest mark of the day with 215.5 points. As in the first round, Wosipiwo was able to jump the second set and secured silver. The bronze medal went to Jiri Raska, who successfully prevailed against the Finn Juhani Ruotsalainen with a jump of 130 meters.
