Dietmar Aschenbach (* 1950 in Brotterode ) is a former German ski jumper and today's trainer.

Career

The son of Alfred and Barbara Aschenbach and older brother of Hans-Georg Aschenbach , who was enthusiastic about Nordic skiing at an early age and later started for the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof , made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1971/72 . In doing so, however, he remained far behind the world's best in all competitions and in the end only achieved 83rd place in the overall ranking. After a year break he started again at the Four Hills Tournament 1973/74 and immediately surprised with 12th place in Oberstdorf . After finishing 29th and 47th in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck , he finally reached tenth place in Bischofshofen . With these good results, he finished 20th in the overall ranking. At the GDR ski championships in 1974 he won the bronze medal in individual jumping. At the Four Hills Tournament 1974/75 he was unable to repeat his success from the previous year and ended up in 38th place with 712.9 points.

At the GDR ski championships in 1975 in Oberwiesenthal , he won the team jumping title together with Martin Weber , Jochen Danneberg and Hans-Georg Aschenbach . At the Four Hills Tournament in 1975/76 he again reached 20th place overall after 1973/74 and also achieved his best individual result with ninth place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At the GDR Ski Championships in 1976 in Lauscha , he repeated the success of the previous year with the team.

After his active career, Aschenbach became a trainer for the Nordic combined and the special jumping at today's WSV Brotterode . From 1979 he got involved with his wife Brigitte as a helper and co-organizer in the Rennsteiglauf .
