Weber, who started for the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof , jumped for the first time at the international FIS race on December 30, 1975 in Oberstdorf for the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament 1975/76 . Two years later, on December 30, 1977, he was able to jump onto the podium for the first time on the same hill with second place. In the end he took 3rd place in the overall ranking of the Four Hills Tournament 1977/78 .
On December 30, 1979 Weber took part for the first time in a jumping in the newly created Ski Jumping World Cup and reached 10th place in Oberstdorf. On January 6, 1980, he won his first competition in Bischofshofen and, as in 1977/78, he reached 3rd place in the overall ranking of the tour. The victory was also his last jump in the World Cup. In the overall ranking of the World Cup, he was in 27th place at the end of the season.
At the 1980 Winter Olympics and the associated world championship in ski jumping in Lake Placid , he reached 11th place on the normal hill on February 13, 1980. Weber ended his active career after the games and now works as a ski jumping trainer.
