Adam Krzysztofiak (born January 21, 1951 in Zakopane , † January 16, 2008 there ) was a Polish ski jumper .

Career

Krzysztofiak celebrated his first success by winning the bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in 1969. He then moved to the senior national team. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Vysoké Tatry , he jumped from the normal hill to 41st place. He did not start from the large hill.

In December Krzysztofiak started in the Four Hills Tournament 1970/71 . After a rather mediocre 28th place on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf , he stopped jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . On the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck he surprisingly jumped to a good 11th place. In Bischofshofen he also showed a good result with 13th place. In the end, he reached rank 59 overall. In the following Four Hills Tournament 1971/72 he could not achieve any better individual results. However, he started all four competitions for the first time and was 46th in the overall ranking.

At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , Krzysztofiak started in both individual competitions. He finished 24th on the normal hill and 29th on the large hill. In the winter of 1972/73 he did not start at the Four Hills Tournament . Only the following year he was back in the squad for the Four Hills Tournament 1973/74 . He again achieved good individual placements, so that he reached an equally good 31st place in the overall ranking.

After he started unsuccessfully at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , he went back to the Four Hills Tournament in the winter of 1974/75 . However, after he only started in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen and achieved 13th place in Oberstdorf, he finished 80th overall. In the following Four Hills Tournament in 1975/76 , Krzystofiak started again in all four competitions and achieved his best overall result with 26th place.

His last major tournament started at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . In the jump from the normal hill he was tied with the Italian Marcello Bazzana and the Yugoslav Bogdan Norčič on the 38th place.

The trained bricklayer Krzysztofiak ended his active career in 1980. He then worked as a ski jumping trainer, among others for Robert Mateja . He died in 2008 after a serious lung disease.
