Frithjof Prydz (born July 15, 1943 in Oslo ; † December 8, 1992 there ) was a Norwegian ski jumper and tennis player .

Career

Ski jumping

Prydz started early in his hometown Oslo with the Ready IL club with ski jumping. In 1968 he won the bronze medal on the normal hill at the Norwegian Ski Jumping Championships behind Bjørn Wirkola and Lars Grini . Prydz started for the first time in the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 in an international competition due to sustained success in national jumping. On December 28, 1969, he was 16 in Oberstdorf . Prydz jumped annually on the tour until 1976. His greatest success was a 7th place in Bischofshofen in 1971. At the Norwegian Championship in 1971 he won silver on the normal hill in Rælingen and bronze on the large hill in Bærum . In 1972 he won the gold medal and was Norwegian champion on the large hill in Trondheim . It was his only gold medal in national championships. Because of this success, he was part of the squad for the 1972 ski flying world championship in Planica , where he came 17th. In the following year he had to be content with silver on the normal hill and bronze on the large hill at the Norwegian Championships. After he was again successful nationally in 1975 with the silver medal on the large hill and took 4th place at the ski flying world championship in 1975 , he ended his active jumping career after the Four Hills Tournament in 1975/76 .

tennis

As a tennis player, Frithjof Prydz won a total of 21 national championship titles between 1968 and 1985 and played 15 games in the Davis Cup . He was able to win four of them. In addition to the men's singles and doubles, Prydz also played in the mixed doubles a. a. with Ellen Grindvold .

For his achievements in ski jumping and tennis, Frithjof Prydz was awarded the Egebergs Ærespris in 1971 .
