Pyotr Walentinowitsch Tschaadajew ( Belarusian Пётар Чаадаеў , Russian Пётр Валентинович Чаадаев ; born July 21, 1987 in Moscow ) is a Russian and former Belarusian ski jumper .

Career

Tschaadajew made his debut in international competitions on November 12, 2001 at the Continental Cup in Kuusamo . On January 12, 2005, he set the current Belarusian record with a jump of 197.5 meters in qualifying for the ski flying world championship in Bad Mitterndorf / Tauplitz . At the Junior World Championships in 2005 in Rovaniemi , he achieved fifth place on the normal hill. He was a participant in the 2006 Winter Olympics , but could not qualify for the competition on the large hill and was disqualified from the normal hill after a good qualifying jump because his skis were too long. At the 2006 Summer Grand Prix he achieved 76th place in the overall ranking. In the 2006/2007 season he was able to achieve World Cup points for the first time and was 77th in the overall ranking.

After differences with the Belarusian Ski Association, he no longer competed for Belarus from the next season and moved to Russia in 2010 . He was nominated for the Russian substitute squad. After two FIS Cup competitions a week earlier, he competed for the first time for Russia in a Continental Cup competition on December 14, 2011 in Almaty and was able to achieve the first points for his new country with 27th place. His best result so far for Russia was a ninth place in the Continental Cup on February 19, 2012 in Oslo .

After the end of his active ski jumping career in 2013, Tschaadajew became a ski jumping trainer and now works as an instructor.
